Living the Dream

A tragic part of human nature or the human experience is that we tend to forget some of the choices we made. When tragedy or some other element of  our lives confronts us, we tend to forget that we chose a particular job, education path, or lifestyle. When we should be proclaiming our happiness, we often show miseries and woes.

Just think how shocking a response would be to hear “I’m just living the dream” when asked about our difficult situations. In reality, it’s all true. We can think fondly or begrudgingly about our struggles, but it’s important to recall that we’re living our dreams.

I spoke with my wife regarding this issue. Her expression was to proclaim that “despite all of our struggles and difficulties, our lives are pretty awesome.” I couldn’t agree more! I love my family, job, and life. I’m doing what I dreamed of doing, and have my life in a place that I want. The key when I get frustrated or discouraged by life’s fierce fire-fights is that I chose these things and I dreamed of this life.

I’d encourage each of you, when the throngs of discouragement begin to prevail, to examine your lives and makes some evaluations. Remember, that you’re having these experiences because of choices previously wanted, and now, you’re living your dream.
